“Be careful of the mine shafts, you could fall in and have a very bad day.”
-Brian
Rated: 6
- Trail Length: About 6 miles round trip depending on the route you take to get into and out of the canyon
- Elevation: From 4328 to 4742 feet
- Terrain Type: Sandy bottom arroyo with large rocks, rock-slab climbs, and steep hills with loose rock
- Major Obstacles: Rock climbs
- Technical Ability: Experienced
- Vehicle Recommendations: Modified vehicle with 35″ tires and two traction devices
- Elevated Hazard: Summer heat, the flies can be terrible out there
- Comment: Carnage Canyon is located in the Oro Grande mining area, this is a moderate hard trail. There are a few spots to play around on and a few hill climbs. The ledges and climbs are not super hard but finding the line may take a couple of tries if you haven’t done them before. The trail isn’t that long but if you go in unprepared it could take you a little while to get thru.
