Body Damage

“How about I try going around the rock.”

Rated: 7

  • Trail Length:  The actual trail is about 1 mile long, if you go out thru Rattle Snake Canyon it’s about a 10.4 mile trip
  • Elevation: From 4598 to 5427 feet
  • Terrain Type: Sandy bottom arroyo going in, large rock-slab ledges and big rocks
  • Major Obstacles: The rock-slab climb presented the biggest challenge
  • Technical Ability: Advanced
  • Vehicle Recommendations: At least 35″ tires and two lockers or limited slip traction devices, you will need some good ground clearance and flexible suspension.
  • Elevated Hazard: Summer Monsoon season, rains can cause flash flooding, be extra careful in the summer.
  • Comment: Pretty short trail with a couple hard areas.  It can get a little off camber on some of the rocks.  Trail could use trimming so expect some NM pin striping.  We’ve only ran this trail once so I don’t have a lot of info for you.  I know getting into this area may be difficult as you have to travel through some private property unless you come in the back way (thru Rattle Snake Canyon) which would be a longer trip.  I’ll have to look into another option to get to this trail.

General Information:

  • This trail is located in Cottonwood trail area in La Luz.
  • Meet up location is the Shell gas station on the corner of Highway 82 and Florida Ave.
  • You can get to the trail via Rattle Snake Canyon, the main area to get to this trail is in question (private property), I need look into it when I get a chance.
