Round About

“This trail could provide some surprises.”

Rated: 4+

  • Trail Length: 15.1 miles, approximately
  • Elevation: From 4463 to 4927 feet
  • Terrain Type: Sandy bottom arroyo with some ledges and rocks
  • Major Obstacles: Washed out areas and loose rocky climbs
  • Technical Ability: Novice
  • Vehicle Requirements: Slightly modified 4×4, at a minimum larger tires or stock SxS
  • Elevated Hazard: Summer Monsoon season, rains can cause flash flooding, be extra careful in the summer.
  • Comment: This is a decent level 4 trail, but there can be some areas that are eroded more than usual. If you are running open differentials you may have to roll thru some off camber areas.  There is also a small hill that may give you a little grief if the dirt is real loose.  There are a few optional rocky areas.  There are some by-passes for the harder stuff.  In it’s current condition I would not take a stock 4×4 on this trail.

General Information:

  • This trail is located in Coyote Canyon, just north of Tularosa.
  • Meet up location is in the empty lot next to Dollar General at the Y intersection of highway 54 and 70.
  • There is an air-down and parking area on the side of highway 54 before you get to the overpass.
  • You will need 4 wheel drive and a slightly modified vehicle.
