Trail Length: 11 miles approximately
Elevation: 4493 to 4925
Terrain Type: Sandy bottom arroyo, some water possible, ledges, rocks
Obstacles: Ledges 3+ feet tall
Technical Ability: Novice with spotter
Vehicle Recommendation: 35″ tires, lifted suspension, at least one traction device, good approach angle. The better equipped you are, the less you’ll struggle
Elevated Hazard: Flooding during Monsoon season as with all trails that are in the arroyo.
Comment: This trail is not too hard, but the last ledge can be a challenge, this is why it’s a 5-6 rating. We have taken SxSs up it, but they did have to take a strap on the last ledge. Not recommended for ATVs.

This trail is located in Coyote Canyon, just north of Tularosa.
Meet up location is in the empty lot next to Dollar General at the Y intersection of highway 54 and 70.
There is an air-down and parking area on the side of the highway 54 before you get to the overpass.
Once you exit the arroyo you’ll follow a trail out to Coyote Canyon, the trail is not well defined, it may take a little searching for as it doesn’t get used much.
You also can go thru articulation alley before you drop into the arroyo, or take the by-pass.
