Jack & Willy

“This one is not for ATVs.”
-Brian
Rated: 5-6
- Trail Length: 11 miles approximately
- Elevation: 4493 to 4925
- Terrain Type: Sandy bottom arroyo, some water possible, ledges, rocks
- Obstacles: Ledges 3+ feet tall
- Technical Ability: Novice with spotter
- Vehicle Recommendation: 35″ tires, lifted suspension, at least one traction device, good approach angle. The better equipped you are, the less you’ll struggle
- Elevated Hazard: Flooding during Monsoon season as with all trails that are in the arroyo.
- Comment: This trail is not too hard, but the last ledge can be a challenge, this is why it’s a 5-6 rating. We have taken SxSs up it, but they did have to take a strap on the last ledge. Not recommended for ATVs.
General Information:
- This trail is located in Coyote Canyon, just north of Tularosa.
- Meet up location is in the empty lot next to Dollar General at the Y intersection of highway 54 and 70.
- There is an air-down and parking area on the side of the highway 54 before you get to the overpass.
- Once you exit the arroyo you’ll follow a trail out to Coyote Canyon, the trail is not well defined, it may take a little searching for as it doesn’t get used much.
- You also can go thru articulation alley before you drop into the arroyo, or take the by-pass.
