Baby Rattler

“Fun trail, the optional route can cause the pucker factor when you crest the hill if you start sliding sideways, ask me how I know.”

-Brian

Rated: 5-7

  • Trail Length: 5 miles round trip
  • Elevation: From 4500 to 5200 feet
  • Terrain Type: Sandy bottom arroyo, steep climbs and descents with some loose rocky areas
  • Major Obstacles: Tight squeeze area and off camber sketchy trail on optional beginning route, steep hill loose surface on main trail exit
  • Technical Ability: Experienced
  • Vehicle Recommendations: Main trail 33″ tires, at least one traction device. Optional routes: 35″ tires two traction devices, modified suspension, roll cage.
  • Elevated Hazard: Optional Routes, tight squeeze section, off camber narrow trail, steep climbs and descents
  • Comment: This trail offers two routes at the beginning and at the end. If you go to the left just after you get on the trail it’s a bit harder and going over the top of the hill to get back into the arroyo can be pretty sketchy.  When you get to the end of the trail you can go up the hill on the left, but if you want more of a challenge go through the arroyo on the right.  The trail is rated a 6 and I would not attempt it without two lockers.  You might be able to get it done with one locker if you stick to the main trail.
