Rated: 2-6

  • Trail Length: Let’s say 14 miles since there are some many routes you could go.
  • Elevation: From 4600 to 5600 feet
  • Terrain Type: Sandy bottom arroyo with some rocks and ledges
  • Major Obstacles: Nothing difficult on the main trek, but there are some optional routes and obstacles that would make it a little more challenging.
  • Technical Ability: Beginner to Experienced
  • Vehicle Recommendation: Stock 4×4 or SxS
  • Elevated Hazard: Summer Monsoon season, rains can cause flash flooding, be extra careful in the summer.
  • Comment: Rattle Snake canyon is one of our main arroyos we run and has several trails built off of it. You can run most of it in two wheel drive with decent tires.  There is a play area and a few optional climbs you can do while you’re in there.  It’s pretty easy if you just stay in the bottom and follow the other tracks.

General Information:

  • This trail is located in Rattle Snake Canyon, between La Luz and Tularosa.

  • This is a pretty easy trail, but you may need to use four wheel drive in some areas.
