Are you prepared for this?
This is not an all inclusive list. This is just a recommendation, your needs may vary.
Recommended Personnel Gear
- Water (more than you think you need) at least a gallon per person
- Food for lunch and maybe a little more just in case
- First Aid Kit with Aspirin or Tylonel
- Sun Screen and chap stick
- Insect Repellent
- Prescription Medications
- List of emergency contacts
- Cell Phone with additional battery pack, hand held GMRS or FMRS radio
- Compass or satellite navigation device
- Flash light with good batteries
- Lighter or matches to start a fire
- Walking/hiking shoes (flip flops are not what you should be wearing on the trail)
- Extra clothing based on possible weather conditions
- Blanket just in case you have to spend the night
- Toilet paper and shovel

Recommended Vehicle Gear
- Working seat belts
- Tow strap
- Fire extinguisher (check the gage)
- Vehicle tow points
- Roll bar or hard top vehicle
- GPS device or GPS app on your phone
- Radio GMRS is the current type most people use
- Extra set of keys
- Full tank of gas
- Extra fuses for your vehicle
- Full size spare (at a minimum a good tire repair kit)
- Tools (can never have enough tools)
- Assorted hardware/parts and anything specific to your vehicle
- Air compressor with required hoses and pressure gauge
- Working jack that is tall enough to get your tire off the ground
- Blocks of wood to chalk tires or put under jack if you have too
- Lug wrench and any special socket for your lug nuts
- Jumper cables or jump box
- Extra fluids (engine oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid, radiator coolant, etc)
- Work gloves
- Paper maps of the area if they're available
- Trash bags
- WD 40 or equivalent
Store items in a tote that you can secure the lid on, and strap everything down. You don’t want your stuff flying around in the vehicle.
